Since the economy has caused many people to look for many ways to maintain their standard of living. Many are turning to the many opportunities that are presented to work at home. However, just as there are legitimate opportunities, there are also many work at home scams as well. In this article we are going to cover the difference between a legitimate opportunity and a scam.
You may be asking your self this question ?are there really opportunities where I can work at home?? The answer to this question is yes there are. Most of these are going to be in the industry of providing customer service for various types of industries. There are companies who actually look for individuals who are willing to provide excellent customer service for their clients. The only down side- don’t expect to make a full-time income unless you are willing to work long hours.
Now when you attempt to look for these type of opportunities, be sure that you know how you are going to be paid. In most cases you will be an employee and earn a hourly wage with a set schedule. There are also other places where you are paid on a per minute basis. However the opportunities are endless.
Since we are taking about scams let’s learn about how you can spot a scam. Most of the time these opportunities will promise or pledge that you are guaranteed to make a certain amount. No one can guarantee how much money you will be able to make online and this is in part because everyone follows directions differently causing results to be different per individual.
Another way to spot work at home scams is by asking for money upfront. If the company or program is asking you to make a hefty investment upfront, you want to do some investigation first. Now keep in mind there are some companies that want you to pay for your own background check, or may require that you get special software in order to perform the job. However, by conducting research into these companies you can find one that meets your guidelines and situations.
Here are some of the scams that you should be aware of and try to avoid:
Stuffing envelopes: This has been an ongoing scam for a long as I can remember. Back in the old days there used to be ads in magazines. Now I think that there are plenty of online ads promoting this type of job.
Typing jobs: These are using jobs where they ask you to do some sort of typing, possibly posting ads or sending email blasts (spam) to people. If this is required then you probably want to stay away from from type of opportunity.
The best way that you can watch out for work at home scams is by conducting research. This allows you to find the best opportunity out there for you and to allow you the excitement of working from home to make money.
